It’s clear that what used to work in the tasting room no longer does.

Today's wine consumers have different motivations and aspirations.

They crave experiences.

But it doesn’t mean overhauling your entire tasting program, just to change the focus.

Yes, focusing on the guest's sensory experience during a wine tasting is the best way to boost customer engagement with your wines and increase conversion rates, newsletter sign-ups, club subscriptions, or wine purchases.

For the first time, I will share the sensory frameworks I use with a small group of wine professionals - winery owners and tasting room managers - to help design more effective, people-first tasting experiences.

Hi, I’m Isabelle Lesschaeve.

I made my mission to:

  • make wine approachable to all and
  • empower wine professionals to adopt consumer-centric strategies, understand consumers’ taste preferences and consumption behaviors to bridge them back to their winery portfolio and marketing communication.

Here's more about me.

  • I have worked in the wine industry for over 30 years as a research professional and sensory consultant.
  • I've created InnoVinum in 2017, bought Dr. Noble's Wine Aroma Wheel business in 2019, and launched InnoVinum Academy at the end of 2020.
  • I have taught wine sensory evaluation to wine professionals, and graduate students at Brock University and other colleges.
  • My applied research work appeared in over 50 peer-reviewed academic publications and several book chapters.
  • I had the privilege to be a keynote speaker at major conferences including the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium and the Australian Wine Technical Conference.
  • I serve the American Wine Society Educational Foundation as VP of scholarship to support the next generation of North American wine professionals.
