Isabelle Lesschaeve, PhD

Principal, InnoVinum Academy and Lead instructor

I look forward to supporting you and tasting with you every month so you can become more confident in your tasting skills.

Hi, I'm Isabelle Lesschaeve
the Founder and Principal of InnoVinum Academy, an online education platform created to demystify wine-tasting rituals.

I teach and coach serious wine lovers worldwide and help them sharpen their tasting skills using a sensory science framework.

While being born and raised in a French culture gave me multiple opportunities to learn about wine, it doesn’t give me the required credentials to be your instructor.

So here’s more.

  • I earned my Ph.D. in Sensory Science from the University of Burgundy, France.
  • I have worked in the wine industry for over 20 years and taught wine sensory evaluation to graduate students at Brock University and other colleges.
  • My research work appeared in more than 50 peer-reviewed academic publications and several book chapters.
  • I had the privilege to be a keynote speaker at several conferences over my career the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium, the Australian Wine Technical Conference, The Pangborn Sensory Symposium, and the Sense Asia Conference to name a few.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes, the membership is meant for people who are struggling to describe precisely wine aroma. The tutored tastings and wine aroma courses will help you overcome this challenge.

The membership is well-suited for beginners and advanced levels alike. However I recommend taking the course Wine Aroma Description Made Easy when you join the membership. This 4 module course will provide the foundation that you'll need to continue to learn during the tutored tastings.

I recommend starting by the self-paced course Wine Aroma Description Made Easy and complete one module a week. Once you're ready to join the Monthly tasting, you'll need 1-2 hours a week follow the tutorials to train your nose and palate ahead of the tasting.

The monthly tasting on the third Saturday of each month at 6 PM UK/1 PM EST/10 AM PST, subject to change if another time suits the members better.

I will send you the tasting recording so you can follow the process at a convenient time for you.

No, I will recommend two or three wine styles to purchase on your own and that should be widely available.

I will provide recommendations for substitution.

The PATH program gave you the foundational knowledge and was rebranded Wine Aroma Description Made Easy. The Wine Sensory Academy expand this knowledge through hands-on practices at home and during the live tutored tastings.
